Swing Out New Hampshire is a dance camp focusing primarily on Lindy Hop, offering four full days of classes and five nights of dancing at Camp Wicosuta in Hebron, NH. Wicosuta is a real kids' summer camp, and each summer, at the end of August, it transforms into SONH over an extended Labor Day Weekend. SONH features world class Lindy Hop instruction, as well as optional classes in other forms of swing dancing. Camp Wicosuta offers a true summer camp experience, including campfire sing-a-longs, communal dining and housing, swimming in pristine Newfound Lake, scenic walks, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as SWOGA (Yoga for Swing Dancers) and an on-site massage therapist. Our camp philosophy has remained consistent, and we focus on giving people the tools to enjoy social dancing more. Our class curriculum stresses connection: to our bodies, to our partners, to the floor and to the music. I think the best thing we can do, as teachers and camp organizers, is to help people experience the joy of truly connected partner dancing. All our teachers love to social dance themselves, and join in the evening dancing. SONH is a favorite of the instructors, and 2007 was the ninth year for Steven & Virginie and Bill Borgida. It was the eighth year for Miss Dawn Hampton and Greg Avakian & Laurie Zimmerman, the fifth for Manu Smith, the fourth summer for Joel & Alison, the third for Skye Humphries and the second for Evita Arce. Over the years the SONH campers and instructors have created an exceptionally friendly atmosphere and culture where more advanced dancers go out of their way to dance with and encourage dancers from all levels. Please read some comments from campers and comments from teachers. I hope you can join us this summer! |
